Alliance Trust Investments has this week taken over as management company for the £3bn Alliance Trust, the Dundee-based group has said. It said ATI was also now administrator to the trust, replacing Bank of New York Mellon, though the US bank would continue to provide investment trust accounting services.

Lord Smith of Kelvin took over as chairman from February 3, with Katherine Garrett-Cox and Susan Noble leaving the board. Ms Garrett-Cox remains chief executive of ATI. Donald McPherson, company secretary, retires on May 31 and will be succeeded by Lisa Brown, currently senior commercial legal counsel to the company.
