ATLANTIS Resources, the Singapore-based tidal energy firm behind the Meygen project in Scotland, has made its first profit.

The company posted a S$4.3million (£2m) profit on revenue of S$2.9 billion (£1.44bn), which was down from S$5.3bn.

"2015 has been a year of amazing progress for Atlantis culminating in the Company's maiden profit," said chief executive Tim Cornelius. "I am pleased that we have been able to make great strides in furthering the development of the tidal stream industry in the UK and beyond.”

Mr Cornelius said the company remained on track to deliver Phase 1A of the Meygen project for installation in 2016. “And we have managed to consolidate the industry in the UK via two well-timed, strategic acquisitions from Siemens and ScottishPower Renewables,” he added.
