Standard Life Investments boosts responsible investment team
STANDARD Life Investments has strengthened its environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment team with the appointment of two responsible investment analysts.
Reporting to Amanda Young, head of responsible investment, Marc Brammer and Sophie Rahm will play an important role in the integration of responsible investment considerations into the wider investment process and engaging with companies on environmental and social issues.
They are also part of the team that manages the criteria for Standard Life Investments’ UK range of ethical funds.
Ms Young said: “ESG considerations have grown in importance over the last decade, as more investors become aware of the significance of how human rights, labour, environmental and business ethics impact on corporate conduct. We believe that companies concerned about the long-term interests of their shareholders should manage relationships with employees, suppliers and customers, and consider the long-term impact of their actions on the environment and society as a whole.”
Mr Brammer joins from Inflection Point Capital Management and previously MSCI Inc and Ms Rahm joins from Schroders.
New Glasgow partner at Sheppard Robson
ARCHITECTURAL practice Sheppard Robson has promoted Adam McGhee to partner at its growing Glasgow office.
Mr McGhee will work alongside James Dick in directing the 25-strong office, which is working on several high-profile projects, including the £63m Knockroon Campus, which is East Ayrshire Council’s biggest ever capital project.
The office is also working on Glasgow’s largest ongoing commercial project on Bothwell Street; and several major education and research projects at the University of Edinburgh.
Sheppard Robson said the promotion in the Glasgow office is testament to the significant contribution Mr McGhee has made to the practice and the firm’s commitment to growing its presence across Scotland.
“The firm's accomplishments over the last 77 years have benefitted hugely from carefully considered succession planning, allowing talent to rise within the company and take up senior leadership roles,” said the company.
New director to lead engineering group’s Glasgow office
CONSULTING engineer company Patrick Parsons has appointed Robert Bisset to spearhead the growth of its Glasgow office.
Patrick Parsons, which has eight UK-based and two international offices, is currently working on several large-scale projects in Glasgow, including the design of a new 209-bedroom Premier Inn hotel situated at St Enoch Square in the city centre.
Mr Bisset has worked for a number of leading UK consultancies prior to joining Patrick Parsons, including Fairhurst, where he spent the last six years as director of the firm’s buildings team in Glasgow.
His responsibilities have included business development, financial control, staff resourcing and technical delivery of a wide portfolio of projects encompassing all sectors including education, retail, residential, marine and petro-chemical.
Commenting on his appointment, Bobby said: “With Patrick Parsons undergoing rapid expansion over these past few years, this is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic, focused and exciting team, where I am challenged to use my skills and experience to contribute to the ongoing success of the company.”
