COMPANIES at the forefront of digital technology in Scotland are being urged to enter the sector’s most prestigious awards scheme.

There are still three days left to enter the 2016 Digital Business Awards, the annual industry recognition programme run by The Herald alongside a host of leading companies and business organisations.

This year’s awards are being held in association with DigitalBoost, supported by Business Gateway, Enigma People Solutions, Wheatley Group, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, SQA and FanDuel.

With Thursday’s deadline fast approaching, businesses who have been successful in creating innovative and effective digital design, technology and marketing are being urged to enter.

There are eleven categories in this year’s awards, allowing organisers to recognise excellence in areas ranging from social media and e-commerce to mobile and education.

And entering could not be easier. All businesses need to do is to put forward their digital campaigns and demonstrate how successful they have been – whether that’s through their popularity, inventiveness or financial impact.

The awards will culminate with a prize-giving ceremony at Glasgow’s Radisson Blu hotel on Thursday, October 20.

Hugh Lightbody, chief officer at the Business Gateway National Unit said: “Winning awards isn’t just about gaining a deserved pat on the back for lots of hard work, it is also about highlighting your business to potential customers and partners and showing that you are a leading player in your industry.

“We know from past years that the quality of entrants to The Herald Digital Business Awards is very high so, with the deadline for entry rapidly approaching, we’d urge everyone in the Scottish digital community to enter.”

Davis Mains, director of Enigma People Solutions, said the awards provide a “showcase” for companies to “reward themselves for a fantastic year of incredible local and international digital projects.”

Eileen McLaren, VP of engineering at FanDuel, said the awards are a “great opportunity to have your work recognised at a national level”, while Evelyn McDowall, digital lead at Wheatley Group said she hopes “as many organisations as possible will share their contribution to the digital landscape by entering the awards.”

Stuart Robertson, director of digital at HIE, said organisers would especially like to hear from companies which have used digital platforms to "dramatically change" how they work while Dr Janet Brown, chief executive of SQA, urged companies to “seize the opportunity and seek the recognition that their digital education and training initiatives deserve."
