BLACK & Lizars, the Scottish optometry chain, has teamed with Glasgow Medical Rooms in a partnership designed to benefit their respective clients.

The alliance means clients can be referred for early treatment at the independent general medical practice if medical problems are uncovered during optical examinations, or at the optician if optical issues are presented during medical checks.

Black & Lizars has 24 branches in Scotland and one in Belfast, while Glasgow Medical Rooms became one of only two private GPs in Glasgow city centre when it was founded by Dr Sheila O'Neill this summer.

Michelle Le Prevost, managing director of Black & Lizars, said: "Eye examinations can reveal a number of medical conditions. We want to refer our clients to a highly professional practitioner who shares our ethos of providing the best possible quality of care."

Dr O'Neill, who was a partner in a busy inner-city NHS practice on the south side of Glasgow for 20 years, said: "Black & Lizars is one of the most highly-regarded health care companies in Scotland. It has continually invested in the most up-to-date optical technology. I will be pleased to refer my patients to their expert care for eye and hearing issues."
