The mysterious figure behind the controversial Rangers Tax Case blog which helped to expose the club's tax affairs have said they have been "vindicated" after the taxman won a judgement that Rangers' use of Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs) broke the rules.

Tweets linked to the blog have welcomed the judges' ruling  and argued that the club should be stripped of their titles.

And it immediately stirred the ire of Rangers fans.

The comments came as Twitter went into meltdown as the shock judgement was revealed.

The Rangers Tax Case blog was a thorn in the side of the club during the tax tribunals over Rangers EBT tax avoidance scheme for paying staff.

The anonymous blogger behind the Rangers Tax Case site was awarded an Orwell Prize in 2011.

Details of the controversial payments to staff and players were featured on the blog and also formed the basis of an award-winning BBC Scotland documentary about the Rangers tax case.

It led the then Rangers chairman David Murray to call for a police probe into the suspected leaking of confidential information.

More than 12,000 people subsequently signed an e-petition calling on the UK Government to launch a probe into HMRC's investigation and the suspected leaks.
