Four people have been arrested after police recovered drugs worth almost £175,000.

Officers searched properties on Wardieburn Place in the north of Edinburgh on Wednesday, seizing heroin with a street value of about £132,000 and £40,000 worth of cocaine.

Cannabis with a value of £1,800 and a three-figure sum of cash were also recovered.

A 21-year-old man and three women aged 20, 23 and 54 were due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday charged with drug offences.

Detective inspector Alan O'Brien said: "Once again, our communities have come forward with vital information relating to drug crime resulting in Wednesday's enforcement activity, which saw the recovery of large quantities of harmful substances.

"I would like to thank the public for their continued support and would ask that anyone with information about ongoing criminal activity in their area contacts police immediately.

"Rest assured, we will utilise all resources at our disposal to investigate any reports of crime and bring those responsible to justice."

Meanwhile, officers searching a house in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, on Wednesday seized what they believe to be heroin with an estimated street value of £105,000.

Police Scotland said a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman have been reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with the find.
