FORECASTERS have said that spring sunshine could finally arrive this weekend.

The Met Office predict that warmer temperatures will arrive on Saturday, putting an end to the current cold spell and sushering in more seasonal weather.

War air from the south and sunny spells on Sunday could see thermometers reaching the low twenties in Glasgow and the borders, while other areas are likely to experience more seasonal weather.

However, cold winds are likely to remain on the east coast, meaning that some parts of Scotland will have to wait for the spring to arrive fully.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "From Friday it will be rather cloudy in the east, but we'll see more sunshine in the west and what we'll see happen is the wind shifting round to a more easterly direction.

"This will push the temperature up and we could see highs of around 16 or 17 degrees on Saturday, with better weather following on.

"The real high point will be on Sunday when it would get up into the low twenties in parts of the west, and it will feel like spring has arrived at last."
