Police have been called to Dungavel Immigration Removal Centre because a man has climbed on to the roof.
It remains unclear why the man, believed to be a detainee at the Strathaven centre, made the climb.
Conflicting reports have emerged claiming the man - who has been on the roof since around 6.30pm - has threatened to jump, while other sources say he has not made any threat.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Officers are in attendance at Dungavel Immigration Removal Centre, however the incident is being dealt with by staff at the centre."
The Herald has so far been unable to contact anyone from Dungavel.
