Celebrity Masterchef is back, with the first episode of the series kicking off on Monday evening.

It will see a whole new group of celebrities put their cooking skills to the test as they battle it out for the Masterchef trophy.

Previous winners have continued on their culinary journeys, releasing cook books and hosting food shows, with 2010 winner Lisa Faulkner even marrying judge John Torode.

Now another line-up of famous foodies will go head-to-head for the crown, including Munya Chawawa, whose on-the-pulse musical parodies frequently receive viral recognition.

Here's everything you need to know about the comedian and 2021 Celebrity Masterchef contestant...

Who is Munya Chawawa?

Lauded the king of musical parody, you may recognise Munya Chawawa from numerous viral videos with his sketches reflecting current events, not least the Matt Hancock scandal for which the comedian altered the words to Shaggy's 'It wan't me'.

The video, which gained over 2.4 million views on Twitter, was praised for its wit and quick turnaround following the story being broken, and was shared thousands of times.

Following the Euro 2020 final, Chawawa released a spoof video called "Racebook", in reference to the racial abuse experienced by England players in the aftermath of the match.

His parady songs have been so successful that he has even released a single titled Piers Morgan, performed by a character developed by Chawawa, a posh rapper called Unknown P.

Chawawa's success is evident across the board, having just been made the host of new Channel 4 series Complaints Welcome alongside Tom Allen and Jessica Knappett.

The 28-year-old was a break out success of 2020 and is seemingly going from strength to strength, but will this extend to his Masterchef competition?

You can watch and find out tonight at 9pm on BBC One.

Who else is in the Celebrity Masterchef line-up?

Also competing tonight to continue in the competition is Hi-de-Hi! star Su Pollard, Happy Mondays' percussionist/dancer Bez, former EastEnders actor Rita Simons and Duncan James from the early-noughties boy band Blue.

The advert shows the celebrities facing their first challenge, in which they are all given a different ingredient from which to create a dish.
