IN 2014 when Israel was at war with the Hamas Palestinians, Israeli aircraft inadvertently hit a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNWRA) school which was being used by Hamas operatives as a launching pad for mortar and rocket attacks on Israel citizens. Ten civilians died in this tragic incident and Israel's actions were widely condemned not least in the SNP run Scottish Parliament which echoed the Obama administration's Jen Psaki, who stated: "The United States is appalled by today’s disgraceful shelling outside an UNRWA school in Rafah."

Now that America is responsible for destroying a Doctors Without Borders-run hospital in Afghanistan, killing 22 civilians in the process (“Air strike destroys charity’s hospital”, The Herald, October 5) , is it not double standards that no such condemnation emanates from either the self-same Obama Administration or indeed from the usual anti-Israel suspects at the Scottish Parliament?
