The Houses of Parliament
DAVID Bone (Letters, November 21) accepts, in his attack on the SNP, that Westminster is antiquated, but it is not as antiquated as he appears to think – unless he believes that the present Westminster Parliament is the 1258 English Parliament continuing. This view seems to be widespread amongst many of the Westminster MPs.
The current Parliament dates from 1707. The Scottish and English parliaments ceased to exist on that date and merged to form the Parliament of Great Britain.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
