Not surprisingly, the conduct of ex-England manager Sam Allardyce was condemned by all panellists on the BBC's latest Question Time programme (September 29). It was highlighted that football has been ruined by the relentless intervention of big business and market forces, ably abetted by those at the top bending rules. Recent disclosures reveal Sam Allardyce was not averse to discussing back handers despite being in receipt of £3 million to occupy arguably the most coveted job in British football. Now, despite being exposed to being driven by pure greed the bold Sam is off on holiday with a possible £1m severance payment on his mind.

Considering the British taxpayer contributes £30m to promotion of football, surely our politicians (of all parties) must query future funding in the light of the recent disgraceful revelations?
