EDINBURGH and Scotland fly-half Duncan Weir is facing an injury lay-off after requiring surgery on a fractured jaw sustained in Saturday's Pro12 defeat to Munster.

The capital club confirmed on Tuesday that the stand-off went under the knife in Livingston on Sunday and will require a spell on the sidelines, although a timescale until his return has not been given.

Tighthead prop Kevin Bryce needs a scan on an elbow injury, while hooker George Turner will also be monitored after injuring his ankle playing for Heriot's in the BT Premiership.

In better news for head coach Alan Solomons, back rower Nasi Manu and fly-half Jason Tovey have returned from their knocks and will be back in training this week.

Edinburgh were beaten 28-14 by the Irish province on the weekend, their third defeat in four league games so far this season.
