Jamie Crowe made it a hat-trick of Scottish Cross-Country titles when he won gold at the Lindsays National Cross-Country Championships at Callendar Park in Falkirk.
Crowe, representing Central AC, crossed the line ahead of second-placed Scott Stirling and Ben Potrykus in third to join a select group of men who have won three or more national XC titles.
“I really enjoyed that – it was a tough battle. It was similar to last year in that a few tactics came into play but luckily, I came out on top this time,” said Crowe, who won silver last year.
“Scott (Stirling) and I were playing a bit of cat and mouse the whole way – he was putting in spurts and I was putting in spurts and because we’ve been so close all season, I knew it was going to come down to the last lap. I put an effort in and managed to get away.
“Last year was a tough one to take but I was only just back from injury so it’s nice to be fully fit this year.
“It means a a lot to have won three titles and be a part of history.”
In the women’s race, Alice Goodall won the senior women’s title just days after making the podium at the World Unis XC Championships in Oman.
Nancy Scott was second with Scout Adkin third.
