St Johnstone have condemned racist abuse aimed at their player Diallang Jaiyesimi during last night's 2-0 loss against Rangers.
The striker was shown a red card midway through the first half of the game at Ibrox for a rash tackle on John Lundstram.
Referee Alan Muir initially brandished a booking, however, VAR advised he check the pitchside monitor. After doing so, the decision was upgraded to an ordering-off.
Post-match, it was revealed by Saints that the on-loan Charlton attacker had suffered racial abuse online, with the post in question widely circulated on social media.
The McDiarmid Park club insists they are 'appalled' and will cooperate with police to resolve the matter.
The club wrote on X: "We are aware of a racist tweet circulating that was aimed at Diallang Jaiyesimi tonight.
"We firmly stand with DJ in this matter and are appalled that this unacceptable behaviour still exists in 2023.
"We will pass this onto Police Scotland to investigate. Say no to racism."
Meanwhile, Rangers manager Philippe Clement was unhappy over the challenge which could well keep Lundstram out until after the winter break.
The Belgian revealed that the former Sheffield United man could well miss the upcoming Old Firm derby on Saturday, December 30.

The 29-year-old will be sent for scans over the next couple of days so the club can fully assess the damage sustained to his ankle.
He said: "The bad thing is that again, a player is kicked off the pitch. We will need to give him a full assessment tomorrow and the day after to see how he is, but at first sight, it doesn't look good. I hope I can recover him before the winter break.
"That (the injury) was from the red card, clearly."
Kemar Roofe started the match but was forced off the field after just 15 minutes as he pulled up through injury.
